I noted this morning that one of my books, ‘How to Paint With Acrylics HANDBOOK for Absolute Beginners’ on Amazon has earned a review. And it’s a bad one, like a kick in the gut.
I want to acknowledge and address this review and respond briefly. The review is as follows, with the title ‘Very disappointing’,
” A small A4 book; poor quality and basic information I knew already. A waste of money for me.”
Upon reading this I feel, again, a kick in the gut, but I note also that the reviewer points out the very basic nature of the book.
Whatever the reviewer was hoping for or expecting, the How to Paint HANDBOOK’s main intent is to provide the most basic of painting information for art beginners. It is intended as a safe space for those who haven’t any idea what they need or how to get started; for those who may not have the confidence to enter an art store to find the most basic of painting supplies.
As per the description on Amazon,
“…How to Paint with Acrylics for the Absolute Beginner is an overview of the Absolute Basics you need to start painting today, with clear concept descriptions, photos, diagrams, illustrations, terms & definitions and ideas to help you become the artist you’ve always dreamed you could be…”
If you’re an absolute beginner, I’m rooting for you. Start today, without fear. The world needs art and everyone of us is just the person to create it.
